About Hammarskjöld

Dag Hammarskjöld was the second Secretary-General of the United Nations, serving with courage and integrity from 1953 until his tragic death in 1961.

The longest journey is the journey inward.

Never look down to test the ground before taking your next step; only he who keeps his eye fixed on the far horizon will find the right road.

Never measure the height of a mountain until you have reached the top. Then you will see how low it was.

Never for the sake of peace and quiet deny your convictions.

Only he deserves power that everyday justifies it.

The concept of loyalty is distorted when it is understood to mean blind acceptance. It is correctly interpreted when it is assumed to cover honest criticism.
