Thuli Madonsela is a former Public Protector of South Africa and ranked among Africa’s most powerful women. An Advocate of the High Court and one of the drafters of South Africa’s Constitution, she has played a pivotal role in shaping key legislation advancing equality and human rights. She is currently the Law Trust Chair in Social Justice and Professor of Law at Stellenbosch University. She is also the founder of the Thuma Foundation and has held leadership roles across civil society and government, including as a Commissioner at the South African Law Reform Commission and Founding Chairperson of the African Ombudsman Research Centre. She was named Forbes Africa Person of the Year (2016) and is included in Forbes Africa's 50 Most Powerful Women list.
