It is with deep sorrow that the Foundation learned of the passing of Stina Oscarson on the 18 April. She was a true visionary, with unique creative energy and a commitment to democratic values as demonstrated with her dedication to promote the legacy of Dag Hammarskjöld. This artistic talent had many different facets which shone brightly in her productions.
The play ‘Hammarskjöld’s Last Journey’, premiered in 2010, stands out among her works. This production, written and directed in a modern way, spoke to a young audience and highlighted Dag Hammarskjöld’s diplomatic efforts and leadership.
The Foundation’s collaboration with Stina Oscarson included other initiatives and she actively served as a member of the ‘Friends of the Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation’. Stina Oscarson’s legacy as a writer, director, advocate, and friend of the Foundation is remembered with great respect and appreciation. Her courage, artistic spirit, and vision will continue to inspire us all.
